Oluwatobi Wande Ojosipe, better known by his stage name Wande Coal, a popular Nigerian singer who has claimed that he and Don Jazzy, his former record label owner and producer, invented “the syllabus of music.”

He claimed that many individuals read what he and Don Jazzy accomplished, borrowed ideas from it, and then produced their own sounds.

This assertion was made by the singer of “Bumper 2 Bumper” in a recent interview with Lagos’ Cool FM.

But he insisted that there was nothing wrong with the young people imitating what he and Don Jazzy did.

He said:

“Me and Don Jazzy have always had a bond. He knows I always come with energy. Even in the studio, I’m always pumped. I’m like, yo, let’s do this sound. And he makes sure he kills it.

“So, it’s like symbiotic [relationship]. I feel like me and Don Jazzy Created the syllabus of music. We created a syllabus of music and a lot of people read that and then took what they had to take to create their own. And that is what is happening now.

“There is no problem with that as long as we are still here making magic with the new generation’s sounds.”
