“I Didn’t Go To Prison I Was Locked Up In Cell, There Was No Light And The Place Was Smelling” – Seun Kuti

In a new video, Nigerian singer Seun Kuti discusses his time in police jail. He stressed that, contrary to popular belief, he was not imprisoned but rather spent time in solitary confinement.

He said that the cell was inadequate since it lacked adequate illumination and had a foul odor. He reported that after a while, everything that happened in the cell became normal.

“My first day in the cell was terrible,” he adds in the video. Instead of going to jail, I was imprisoned in a dank, musty cell. The heat had been a part of my routine after two days, and I had adjusted to it.
