Two top executives in the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, including the chief ethics officer, are resigning in the wake of the Jussie Smollett case, The Post has learned.

April Perry, the ethics officer who’s worked with State’s Attorney Kim Foxx since January 2017, told The Post she submitted her resignation letter on Monday.

A spokesperson said that Mark Rotert, the director of the office’s Conviction Integrity Unit, has also submitted his resignation. Both Perry and Rotert are scheduled to work their last days on the job in May.

“While I feel lucky to have been able to spend the last 15 years of my career in public service, I am looking forward to my next endeavor in the private sector where I have the opportunity to continue to work toward increasing the safety of our community,” Perry wrote in an April 15 letter obtained by Fox News via a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

As we previously reported, Foxx and her department have been criticized for the way they handled Smollett’s criminal case. Smollett was arrested and charged after Chicago police department claimed they had evidence that the actor had set up his own brutal attack. 

However, three weeks later, Foxx dropped the charges against the 36-year-old “Empire” actor on March 26, explaining that Smollett was offered “deferred prosecution” because he forfeited his $10,000 bond and performed some community service.
