Jemele Hill to Leave ESPN in September With Buyout. ESPN personality Jemele Hill will reportedly leave the network at the beginning of September, according to noted author and media reporter James Miller.
Hill’s departure from the sports network comes nearly a year after she was suspended for 2 weeks without pay for badmouthing President Donald Trump on Twitter.com and for urging her followers to boycott Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ advertisers.
The move by Espn to terminate Hill’s contract came after she reportedly requested a private meeting with ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro on Friday, according to Miller.
Hill’s insistence on infusing politics with sports led to a boycott of ESPN and thousands of viewers canceled their cable subscriptions.
