Carnival Cruise Ship Dream Flooded After a Water Line Broke

A Carnival cruise ship traveling from New Orleans to the Caribbean flooded after a water line break. Water flooded hallways and 50 rooms.

A statement was released from the cruise line describing how it took six hours for the crew members to replace or dry out the carpeting in the hallway and 50 staterooms. The cruise line also explained that the flooding was caused by a break in the ship’s fire suppression system.

Spokeswoman Annemarie Matthews reported that the cruise line refunded 100 guests for the inconvenience and offered a discount for a future cruise.

“We appreciate our guests’ understanding and sincerely apologize,”

“We also thank our crew members for their quick action and hard work.”

Passengers aboard the ship posted their reactions on Facebook like Maria DeAnn Haase. She used a reference from the movie “Titanic” when she noticed the flooding on Deck.9.

“We are flooding on a cruise,”

“We heard the violins and the silverware all come crashing down. What in the world.”

Passengers were also given the option to fly home on Friday and the ship returned to its home port in New Orleans Sunday. Carnival launched the Dream in 2008 and cruises along the western Caribbean including stops in Cozumel, Mexico, Belize, and the Grand Cayman.
