Beyonce Pledges $100k for Students to Attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities

Just days after making history as the first black woman to headline the music festival “Coachella,” Beyonce announced she is pledging to help students attend historically black universities.

The singer announced that one student from Bethune Cookman University, Xavier University, Wilberforce University, and Tuskegee University will each receive a $25,000 scholarship next school year.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The effort marks the second installment of the Houston native’s BeyGOOD Initiative’s Homecoming Scholars Award program.

According to Ivy McGregor, a representative of Parkwood Entertainment which houses #BeyGOOD  said the initiative salutes “the rich legacy of #HBCUs.”

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀“We honor all institutions of higher learning for maintaining the culture and creating environments for optimal learning which expands dreams and the seas of possibilities for students,” McGregor added.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Scholarships are available to students majoring in literature, creative arts, African American studies, science, education, business, communications, social sciences, computer science and engineering.
