Missing CDC Worker Found Dead in Chattahoochee River in Atlanta

Gigionthat.com has learned the decomposed body pulled from the Chattahoochee River in northwest Atlanta on Tuesday has been identified as Timothy Cunningham, the CDC worker who went missing on February 12.

The remains were clad in a jogging suit according to a coroner’s report. Cunningham was an avid jogger. Police do not know how Cunningham’s body ended up in the river.

He was last seen on Feb. 12 after he left work saying he was ill.

Cunningham was reported missing on Feb. 16 when his family traveled to Atlanta after he didn’t answer their phone calls.

Investigators said he was upset that he was passed over for a promotion at work. But the CDC issued a statement saying Cunningham was promoted to commander in July.

The medical examiner said there was no sign of foul play on the body. She is awaiting toxicology tests before releasing her final report. The preliminary cause of death is drowning.
