Joel Osteen’s Church Passes Around Collection Plates With Harvey Flood Victims

Joel Osteen conducted his first Sunday service, since the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey, according to information posted on DailyMail. Pastor Osteen told evacuees devastated by the destruction of the hurricane, that God knew Houston, could ‘handle’ the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, during Sunday’s service.

‘Quit being upset by something you can handle’ the pastor belted out to the people.

His message comes just days after the hurricane has devastated and crippled the city. ‘God never promised we would reach our destination without a battle and without disappointments and without things we don’t understand,’ he added.

The service opened with mention of the “several hundred” evacuees in the audience. Osteen, came under tremendous heat when he was called out for not opening his mega Church doors to displaced Houston evacuees. The pastor has yet to address the concern people felt regarding this alleged ungodly behavior.  Many feel that Osteen was ridiculed into opening the doors to a church, which is one of the largest in the country. The message Osteen delivered to the congregation was not of an apology, but shared that they were all part of a divine plan and that ‘God knew that Houston could handle the hurricane.’ as posted by the source:

‘Scripture says you will go through the flood but you will not drown,’ he added. ‘You may be in a difficulty right now but that has an expiration date. Instead of being discouraged, remind yourself this trouble has an expiration.’ ‘God is in control of the universe and what he has spoken over your life will come to pass.’

Pass The Plate

The church held regular services earlier in the week on Wednesday. According to the source during services collection plates were passed around. Many in the audience were evacuees that had lost everything from the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.

‘Why didn’t he tell them to avoid it if he knew there was going to be a major hurricane? Because he knew avoiding that storm would keep them from their destiny,’ the pastor told the crowd, and millions watching at home.’ He explained that his parishioners shouldn’t be ‘upset or panicked because there is a few hurricanes along the journey.’

To add insult to injury, the pastor allegedly shared a story regarding his discovery of finding out that the Houston Rockets were vacating their current mega church home. Osteen, allegedly complained about his battle and struggle to raise $100 million dollars to covert and renovate the church. The source points out through all that communication, there was not one mention of donating any moneys to the victims of the hurricane. Many sitting there listening to all this while they have absolutely no worldly possessions.
