New Orleans police are investing the killing of a Pregnant Woman on Wednesday in Algiers.

Police were called to the intersection of General Meyer and Sullen, where they found the body of 22-year-old Raven Veal.

“It was very big — probably 12-14 marked units, crime lab and EMS,” said neighbor Keith Robert, who described the crime scene to WDSU.

Stuffed animals now line the street where Veal’s body was found.

“I was sitting right there on the neutral ground. I hear ‘pow pow pow pow pow!’ Iran. I didn’t know which way the bullets were going,” said another neighbor who was outside when the gunfire erupted.

Witnesses are saying Raven was seen arguing with her unborn baby father in the car. The suspect tossed her 3-year-old girl out of the vehicle leaving her with minor injuries.

“All I saw was the little car speeding off that way,” a man who did not want to be identified said. The man added Veal died in the driveway of the house next door.

“If you can’t get along, get on,” he said. “You go one way, let her go another way. You ain’t got to beat her up or run over her or nothing like that, shoot her.” Neighbor Keith Robert said the Woman Pleaded for her life.

“There was loud pleas of help from her that started maybe over there and kept getting stronger, stronger,” Robert said.

Judging from the blood splatter on the street, it appears the fatal confrontation started closer to Patterson, which is the levee road and ended up about a half a block away, near Sullen and General Meyer.

“Everybody needs to pray for her family and hope that things get better in this world,” Simmons said. “I was just thinking that we need to stop the violence. It’s senseless.”

Police report they recovered the vehicle used to run-down Veal. They have not identified the suspect in this case.
