New Topic: Standout New-to-Me Materials I Just Received

I can't remember our ever having a thread on this and it seems it could be Interesting and fun.

The idea is that sometimes you have orders with materials new to you, whether entirely new or a new-to-you version or source of a familiar product, and some of them really stand out. Or maybe just one does, but it really impresses you.

The idea isn't to post about every new thing one gets, but only the ones that stand out to you on first impression. First impression is all in this case, no matter that in other threads one generally wants to be experienced with actual use.

Of course, replies from those experienced in use will be most valued! Hopefully there will be many replies to each post which gives the latest new standouts for each person. But "new-to-me" posts would be without experience.

No rules on what percentage is standout, but the idea is definitely not to post most of what one receives that is new.

Anyway here are mine, actually received on Saturday but didn't get to to open till now:

Tea White China SFE Firmenich: Very beautiful. Also interesting to me personally because when I first started perfuming, there was a bath product my wife bought which claimed "White Tea" as its only note and it was quite nice despite being a cheap product, and I was quite interested in trying to copy that but never got anywhere. This is indeed that same note, but considerably better. I don't know how I would use this -- meaning lack of knowledge rather than informed skepticism. But I'm not visualizing it.

Patchouli Absolute Robertet: Wow, I cannot wait to try this in combination with Patchoulol, Clearwood, and/or Robertet's Patchouli Fraction B. Lots of character and interest and somehow it gets that with no hippy note or none to me anyway. I was really disappointed when WLA's Patchouli Absolute left the market but this seems way more useful to me. I expect to use this a lot.

Floralozone: OK this raises the obvious question of what rock I've been living under, but no I have never had this. This is going to be important for sure. Obviously a tremendous building block for a floral, and perhaps could where needed also be an important modifier. Btw it was mentions and recommendations here that woke me up on this one.

Ocimenyl acetate: Very interesting. It is not much similar to ocimene at all. Hard to describe. Totally "natural" for sure, I expect will add realism to floral and green accords. I don't call nearly as many things "sweet" as others do and this is not sweet in the vanilla or maltol sense but still in some way is. There's an impression of having just snapped a stem or something. Not green, but suggestive of it. Very "living." I would not want this note to last (in my present conception) so I hope it has very little substantivity. It seems not strong at first but leaves a strong after impression so I think it will prove powerful. Looking up the mw though, it is almost 200 so this may last longer than I'd want. Of course I could be wrong in that, perhaps it could be a great modifier at very low level. This initial impression was straight out of the sample tube after all!
