Do you think Kouros will be around forever?!

I was just thinking.. do you think Kouros will be around forever? Will the demand always be there for it? Say in 10.. 20.. 50 years from now?

I believe it's been in constant production since 1981. First the Paris bottles, then the Parfums Corp, then Sanofi, Gucci and finally the L'Oreal of today.

But, compared to many of today's YSL giants such as La Nuit de L'Homme.. I begin to wonder what percentage of their sales can be attributed to Kouros. I don't really think it's a mainstream fragrance these days? I'm sure it sells well with the middle age group but probably not on the same standards as what's popular with the young group. I wonder is there any way of telling how much it sells compared to the YSLs that are popular with the younger generation today? I'm sure alot of older people buy it and collectors like ourselves.. but surely the market share must be less? Especially as it's 80s hey day is long over.

Can we expect to see Kouros forever? Most of the young generation of today don't wear Kouros now so they aren't going to want Kouros in 30 or 40 years time.. and the older generation, the people who wore Kouros in it's heyday.. well in 30 or 40 years time wont be worried about fragrances as I'd imagine most of them will be in their 80s and 90s if they're still alive! Do you think YSL will always manufacture and sell Kouros as long as people are around? Or like so many other will there come a time where there is basically no demand for it?

It's kind of a weird question as nothing like that has really happened yet.. I believe it's genuinely something that has yet to occur. It's difficult to put into words, but essentially what I'm trying to say is no generation who found a fragrance iconic (essentially to the extent of being part of their times) has died out yet. What I'm talking about can't really happen for another 20+ years until the generation who wore Kouros when they were young start ceasing to be around. I hope I've not made that sound too complicated.

I speak of Kouros as it's the one that applies to me.. but I guess the same could be asked for many popular old skool fragrances.. like Antaeus, Polo etc. Like so many others that have decreased demand and in turn been discontinued.. will even popular old skool fragrances die out some day too?

Any thoughts? Just curious..
