Frequent Guerlain Vetiver wearers - being driven mad!

Hi all,

I started on my journey only about a month ago but with a mission in mind. I was frustrated with Guerlain Vetiver because I love something very specific in the dry-down so much, but I find it to be too subtle and fleeting and I wanted MORE and MORE and MORE!

So, I was going to set about trying to find out exactly what it was that I was in love with and try and find something with more strength of that specific scent or at least try and find something that featured it that had better longevity.

Having tried 43 samples later and with another 15-20 ready to be tested, I am still no further to finding it! It's driving me mad!

The scent I'm trying to find is after about 1.5 - 2hrs on my skin. There it is in all it's majesty. What the hell is that! I've bought fragrances that lead on all of the notes of this Guerlain Vetiver and it's none of them that I can find. Is it a concoction, is it an ingredient rather than a note? Somebody else must be able to identify what it is.

There are some that come CLOSE which give me a slight clue perhaps. Vetiver Geranium (Creed) comes pretty close. French Lover (after about 8hrs of dry down lol!) is kind of similar, but not really. Creed Original Vetiver, again - close but no cigar.

The insanity is listed here; http://www.basenotes.net/wardrobe/26223900&t=tried&s=rd - please somebody save me from this madness!

Or, is the true lesson that it's just Guerlain Vetiver, and if I want that scent, I have to buy that fragrance, it's unique? Nah - surely it must be somewhere else in purer, louder, more pungent form? One thing is for sure, it's not Vetiver that I am trying to find, I think I've tried pretty much every Vetiver on the market and it ain't that. It's either something else or something mixed with a very particular Vetiver.

S.O.S! :)
