6 Fun Games to Lighten up your Party

You are planning a party with your friends or colleagues and besides the appetizers and drinks there is always one more important thing you should definitely do – entertain your guests! Maybe you can organize some interesting and Fun Games that will bring your quests closer together, reveal some secrets, and most importantly, they will make the whole group laugh. Here are some games that will lighten up you party. You don’t need some special equipment just your imagination and a few guests.

A hat

Each player gets a few small pieces of paper and a pencil and secretly writes down the name of a famous person or fictional character, folds each piece of paper, and puts it into the hat. The leader/judge mixes those pieces of paper and divides all the players into teams. Set the timer for one minute. At the signal, the ‘chosen’ one takes a name from the hat and describes the person named to his team without using the words or word phrases that are actually written down. After the character is correctly guessed, the player pulls another name from the hat. The other teams and the judge keep score and watch the time, shouting ’time’s up’ after a minute.
After each player has had a turn, count up and declare a winning team.

Associations

Get the players to sit in a circle. Someone starts with a random word by whispering it to the person who is sitting next to them. The next player, after hearing the word, should immediately whisper the first thing that comes into his/her mind to the next player.
The game goes round until the player who started the game receives the last word.

Teeth

Your guests sit down in a circle. Each player chooses a fruit or vegetable name. Taking turns, the players try to articulate the name of their chosen fruit or vegetable without showing their teeth. They might speak with their lips over their teeth or just mumble the name. The player who starts the game says his/her word twice and then adds another player’s word and repeats it twice. For example, ’tomato, tomato, strawberry, strawberry’ if he/she offers the next turn to the strawberry person. The strawberry person will then say, ’strawberry, strawberry, cucumber, cucumber,’ and so on. If someone shows their teeth, the player who spots them tries to alert the group by screaming, ’teeth, teeth!’ yet never showing their own teeth in the process. The purpose is to eliminate people who showed their teeth. If you’re thinking of a perfect icebreaker for introductions, try using the names of people instead of fruits and vegetables.

Charades

Everyone knows this popular guessing game. Above all, it’s an acting game where the final success depends greatly on the acting skills of the players. The chosen one tries to act out a word or word phrase using nonverbal means of communication rather than verbal language, often by miming similar-sounding words and giving other hints. The other players try to guess the word or word phrase. The one who guesses the word correctly gets to act out the next word.

Guess who

Divide the group into two teams. The two teams should be seated as panels, facing each other. One person from each team is picked to guess who the judge has in mind from the other team. To present some proof afterwards, the judges should write down those people’s names beforehand. The teams will take turns asking yes or no questions only. If the group is small and you see it’ll be easy for them to guess, try to introduce a new rule: only a specific number of questions can be asked, for example three or five. Keep on going until the ’mystery’ is revealed.

Truth or Dare

Truth or Dare is a well-known game to break the ice with someone new and to have fun with good old friends! Each participant gets to decide what he/she prefers: to tell the truth or to accept a challenge. Then the whole group comes up with either a task to do or a question to be answered. As dares can turn into a real challenge like ’go kiss a random girl’ or ’do 30 push-ups right now,’ people often choose to go with the truth. It’s recommended that each of the players has only five chances to choose truth over dare. If a dare isn’t completed, the group decides on the penalty. An old yet very exciting game that also boosts teamwork and encourages brainstorming, especially when it comes to penalties.
