Harvey merchandise ads part 1: the 1950’s

After submitting so many wonderful guest exhibits, Rick Beckham then started going through his comic book collection, looking for advertisements for Harvey Merchandise. Starting in 1956, he worked forward until he found these three from February of 1959:

I had asked what toys and games were made featuring Sad Sack about a month ago, and now we have a better answer. In addition to the doll that I have seen, there is a doll of his dog Muttsy, and two punch bags, a large and a small size. And we have another piece of Joe Palooka merchandise that I have never seen before. It is hard to tell from the illustration, but I do not think that the boxing gloves that I posted previously are the “training gloves” from the home gym set.

I have added these wonderful scans to the 1959 copyright page, finally making a Copyright archive page useful. Thank you again Rick for your efforts, you have helped collectors of Harveyana everywhere! Ads from the 1960’s and 1970’s to come!
