A Marine stationed at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms is dead, officials announced Wednesday.

The Marine, who was not identified, collapsed during training and was taken to the hospital, where life-saving measures were attempted. The Marine was pronounced dead at the hospital.

“On behalf of the command team, I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the Marine’s family, friends, and unit,” Brigadier General Roger Turner wrote on the base’s Facebook page.
