This movie stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCarprio. Being a western this movie is about help with a German bounty hunter, a freed slave sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner. The film was shot in 130 days. This was Quentin Tarantino’s longest shooting schedule for a single film.

When Calvin Candie played by Leonardo DiCaprio smashes his hand on the dinner table, DiCaprio accidentally crushed a small stemmed glass with his palm and began to bleed a lot. He ignored it, stayed in character, and continued with the scene. Quentin Tarantino was so impressed that he used this take in the final print, and when he called cut, the room erupted in a standing ovation.

This movie nearly has it all. It has a cameo by Samuel L Jackson. It was the fifteenth biggest grossing film of 2012. It had action and drama. The characters were motivated by interesting parts of the story. For a movie that is nearly 3 hours, most scenes were fantastic. The ending leaves you satisfied in the only way you could expect. I recommend this movie to everyone who likes Taratino’s movies and the history of the American slave trade.
