EA Sports – UFC 2, a video game review

A video game review by: Lee Sonogan

(2016) Action, sport

One of the best fighting games to play today. The game’s artificial intelligence accommodates for changes in player strategies mid-game to make the gaming experience more realistic than in previous UFC games. The game was developed by EA Canada and published by Electronic Arts. It is available on the Playstation 4 and Xbox video game consoles. The games cover art features Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor.

There are over 250 fighters in the game to choice from and  you may customise various aspects of the fight. Modes consist of Fight now, Ultimate team, Career Mode, knockout mode and more. You can even create your own fighter and use it on all the modes. With bantamweight, welterweight, middleweight, heavyweight and more classes, there are many different ways to fight. The game also has an impressive amount of animations for all the different kinds of moves you can use in fights.

Game informer’s Brain Shea gave the game a 8.5/10. He stated “UFC 2 improves over its predecessor in the ways it needed to. The improved ground game and deeper career mode are the biggest draws, but knockout mode is a blast to play with a friend and Ultimate Team offers a unique twist on the popular mode from other sports games. If 2015 EA Sports UFC was a promise being made. UFC 2 is its deliverance,”. Shea also praised the visuals and designs of the fighters.

This game is the first mixed martial arts game that I have gotten into. My friends follow the UFC and I don’t so I figured I could try the game out cheap and then play with them. Play with them I did. It made me want to be better. I started a career mode and won the Welterweight tittle. Always learning about new things about it. For a video game, it satisfies while playing it with decent commentary. I recommend this video game to people who like action and fighting and want a good one vs one fighting game.
