The Simpsons is already contracted to do two more seasons. It will be the 30th season and the longest running comedy sitcom of all time. The show is set in the fictional city of Springfield, and lampoons American culture, society, television and many aspects of the human condition. Over the years the shows structure has changed and evolved. In this article I intend to explain and compare the differences of the past and the shows current product.

The family debuted as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987. After a three-season run, the sketch was developed into a half-hour prime time show called The Simpsons, which debuted on December 17, 1989. The Simpsons first season was the Fox network’s first TV series to rank among a season’s top 30 highest-rated shows.

Season 2 started the glory days for The Simpsons. For many seasons after that they gained the following they needed. Each episode was a classic in a role. The storys for its time in the role of comedy was changed forever. It even won and was nominated for many awards. Many of the animated shows that we see today has to take inspiration from The Simpsons from the nintys.

I still watch all the new episodes when they come out. In 2017 anything goes according to the shows structure. Still there is quality there from old. Cons of it is that it seems that it is forced and more unrealistic than it used to be. If The Simpsons were attempt to go back to its roots, it could pick up some interest quickly. The crossover episodes were pretty darn good, though these days I am more excited for other new animated shows such as Rick and Morty, South Park and Anime.

Do you like all the Simpsons episodes or manly the earliest ones? I like them both, but if I had to choice it would be the old ones. The ones I grew up watching. Watching some of them recently inspired me to write this and make a point of it. I like the old ones better cause when they used other characters other than the family, they were more part of the story. New Simpsons are taking the easy way out in creating new content. That’s common with most shows though. Tv shows over ten seasons tend to loss watching quality between 6-8 seasons over the years they are made. Overall, good work for lasting this long and sustaining a level of worthy watching over the years.
