One first shows I got into when I was younger. Watching all 8 seasons, I have fond memories of its storys and characters. Created by Showtime, the show is about a forensics expect, but that’s what he seems to be. That is not what he really is. He is a serial Killer that hunts the bad. Originally based on Darkly Dreaming Dexter by the author Jeff Lindsay, the tv show adaption was reviewed highly and held in high regard.

Dexter has killed about 117 people according to the Dexter Wiki. He had 45 blood slides in his first box before it was destroyed and now has about 43 slides in his new box. There were also 20 or so victims from whom he didn’t collect blood. Some of the actions of Dexter lead to some comparisons and connections to real life crimes all over the world..

Jennifer Carpenter’s character Debra Morgan (Dexter’s sister), is known for her frequent swearing, used the word “fuck” 996 times throughout the show’s eight-season run, according to a count made by fans. Her character changes completely by the end of the show, plus more stuff.

Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter, won the Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a TV Drama and the Screen Actors’ Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in TV Drama for his portrayal of Dexter Morgan. He was also nominated five times for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. You also might have seen Michael C. Hall in his early work in the tv show series called Six feet under.

Some of the most impressive scenes and acting comes from the seasons main bad guy. They have had some big names such as John Lithgow as The Trinity Killer. James Doakes, the only guy that found Dexter different. Then there was the Doomsday killer played by Edward James Olmos with twists and a perfect ending to the season. Then there was Hannah Mckay, Frank Lundy, Jordan Chase, Miguel Prado, The ice truck killer and so much more interesting bad guys from each season.

Fun fact, Marvel comics released a limited series of Dexter in July 2013. Another limited series came out in 2014. Dexter was originally planned to be a movie star, not the lead in a long-running TV show. Yes, that first book could have become a straight film adaptation. The only reason that producers shifted gears and envisioned it better as a TV series was because they thought that audiences would automatically assume it was just another slasher movie, and they had trouble finding financing as a result.

If you like creative crime shows, you should check out Dexter. Each episode has all the crime elements you would want mixed with enough dark themes and gory actions. Then theres listening to every word Dexter says. His monologue and speeches are epic and develop Dexter with everyword. He is a serial killer, but he always thinks, plans and justifys his ideas and thoughts. This leads to some comedic scenes as he trys to be human and define what a human is. The ending leaves Dexter more confused and frustrated about life than ever. The last shot implies that we will not be seeing him again. I recommend this show to people who have the time to watch the whole thing one by one, want a well written show, like the concept, want something new or like Michael C. Hall as an actor. For everyone else, all I can say is that this show will not be for everyone.
