Recorded in 1985 at Peter Gabriels home in England, the album So would transform  Peter Gabriel in to a mainstream superstar. The 9 song album was released in 1986 and from it five singles would emerge and take over FM radio. “Sledgehammer”, “Don’t Give Up”, “Big Time”, “In Your Eyes” and “Red Rain” would take So to the top of the radio charts in 7 separate countries. In the U.S. So would end up in the top ten for 93 weeks.

Peter Gabriels 5th studio album would combine funk, soul, pop and art rock with traditional Brazilian and African rhythms and beats.  Themes cover a broad spectrum as well, delving into consumerism, religion, politics, social issues, and war. Contributing artists on So are as varied as the styles and themes.  The album features contributions from Kate Bush, Laurie Anderson, Stewart Copeland, Wayne Jackson, Manu Katché, Tony Levin,Youssou N’Dour, and many more.
