DUI Driver Injures Two LAPD Officers
An impaired driver injured two Los Angeles Police Department officers in a suspected DUI crash last week.
The two officers were responding to a call when a DUI driver struck them at a North Hollywood intersection. According to police, the intoxicated driver ran a red light. Both officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Rescue personnel transported them to the hospital as a precaution.
The impaired driver also complained of injuries, but rescue personnel did not transport the driver to a hospital. The officers are expected to make a full recovery.

Drunk driving charges can be serious, especially when they cause injuries to others. When you face charges for impaired driving, your best defense begins with an experienced DUI attorney. Robert Helfend has 35 years of experience in criminal defense. He takes drunk driving cases in Los Angeles County and throughout Southern California.

Most Drunk Driving Cases in California result in misdemeanor charges. This outcome is unlikely when an arrest involves a collision, injuries or repeat offenses. Regardless of the circumstances of your case, you need to have experienced, aggressive representation on your side.

An impaired driving charge is complex because it involves two concurrent processes. First, the DMV process will immediately suspend your driver’s license. That’s not a criminal sanction; it’s an administrative process that every impaired Driver must go through. The criminal process involves either misdemeanor or felony charges and takes place in a courtroom.

If a judge or jury finds you guilty, you could receive jail time, fines and other sanctions including the loss of your driver’s license. You could be required to install an ignition interlock device on your car or retake driver training classes. If you have a history of impaired driving, the prosecutor can seek additional penalties.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking that a misdemeanor charge isn’t serious. You still need experienced representation in court. Don’t settle for an inexperienced attorney and don’t attempt to represent yourself in court.
