Cosmonaut

I have been studying the work of Alexander Rodchenko by creating variations of his work and incorporating them in the background of some of my Artwork. In this particular piece I tried to develop an ambiguous sense of space since the block of black and the color figures above both create a pronounced contrast in which the girl finds herself trapped.
The girl is caught in the middle of motion to evoke a sense of hustle. Her profession is one of constant work. As a result, she cannot afford the luxury of pausing.
As an engineering student I find it troubling that most of my classmates are male even though women are fully capable of pursuing a career in engineering. As a response I created this artwork to empower the idea that women can excel in a predominantly male profession.
