Maharaja’s College Clash Results in Stabbing of SFI Unit Secretary in Kochi

Kochi: In a troubling occurrence, Nasir Abdul Rahman, the unit secretary of the Students’ Federation of India (SFI), reportedly suffered stab wounds near the premises of Maharaja’s College in Kochi on Thursday. The SFI alleges that the attack was coordinated by approximately 20 individuals associated with the Fraternity Movement and the Kerala Students Union (KSU).

The Fraternity Movement serves as the student wing of the Welfare Party, while the Kerala Students Union (KSU) is linked with the Congress. In the aftermath of the altercation, the college administration opted to indefinitely shut down Maharaja’s College to prevent further clashes.

According to law enforcement, two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the incident, and more than 10 people are now facing charges, including attempted murder and gang assault.

The assault occurred around 1 am on Thursday, with the SFI contending that Nasir was ambushed with a machete by members of the Fraternity Movement and KSU. Nasir sustained stab wounds and was expeditiously transported to a private hospital in Kochi for medical treatment.

The incident unfolded subsequent to a clash on Wednesday night related to the college union elections. Responding to the situation, police presence has been increased on the campus to ensure order and prevent any additional clashes among the students.
