On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Saira Banu, one of the most renowned actresses in Indian cinema, reminisced about her initial encounter with the language. She shared insights into her motivation and determination to master one of India’s official languages.

September 14 is celebrated as ‘Hindi Diwas,’ a day that highlights the importance of the Hindi language.

Since her debut on Instagram, Saira has been regularly sharing cherished memories of her late husband and legendary actor, Dilip Kumar.

Using Instagram Stories on Thursday, Saira expressed her deep pride in acquiring proficiency in Hindi and penned a heartfelt note about it.

The actress famous for her role in ‘Padosan’ composed in Devanagari script: “Saalon pehle jab main ek mashoor abhinetri banne ka sapna lekar Bharat aayi thi, toh yahan ki bhashaon mein itni nipun nahin thi.”

She stated: “Hindi Cinema mein abhinay karne ke liye yeh bahut zaroori tha ki main Hindi bhasha ko achhe se bol aur samajh paaun, khaas kar ke 60 ke dashak mein jab do kalakaron ke beech mein samvaad bahut hi lambe, shayarana, aur kathin shabdon ko mila kar bana karte the.”

“Lekin meri Maa, ‘Pari Chehra Naseem Banu’ ji ne mere yahan aane ke baad yeh zimma uthaya ki main yeh anmol bhasha seekh paaun, aur maine utni hi lagan ke sath isse seekha, aur iss baat ka mujhe bahut garv hai,” unhesitatingly shared.

Saira is the offspring of actress Naseem Banu and producer Mian Ehsan-ul-Haq.

Naseem Banu, known as the “Beauty Queen” and the “first female superstar” of Indian Cinema, commenced her acting journey in the mid-1930s and persisted until the mid-1950s.

At the tender age of 16, Saira embarked on her journey to make her debut in Hindi films, ultimately marking her entrance alongside Shammi Kapoor in the 1961 film ‘Junglee.’ Throughout the 1960s, she solidified her presence with a string of successful films, including ‘Jhuk Gaya Aasman,’ ‘Ayee Milan Ki Bela,’ ‘April Fool,’ ‘Aao Pyaar Karen,’ ‘Shagird,’ and ‘Pyar Mohabbat,’ among numerous others.
