Officials for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 have been announced.

All Umpires selected from the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires will preside over matches in the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, set to take place in India.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the list of 20 match officials for the tournament’s league stage, with appointments for the semi-finals and final to be announced later in the competition.

  • Kumar Dharmasena (Sri Lanka)
  • Marais Erasmus (South Africa)
  • Michael Gough (England)
  • Nitin Menon (India)
  • Paul Reiffel (Australia)
  • Richard Illingworth (England)
  • Richard Kettleborough (England)
  • Rodney Tucker (Australia)
  • Joel Wilson (West Indies)
  • Ahsan Raza (Pakistan)
  • Adrian Holdstock (South Africa)
  • The remaining four officials hail from the ICC Emerging Umpire Panel:

The group comprises 16 umpires and four match referees. Twelve of these officials are part of the esteemed Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires:

  • Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid (Bangladesh)
  • Paul Wilson (Australia)
  • Alex Wharf (England)
  • Chris Brown (New Zealand)
  • Notably, three umpires from this lineup officiated during the Cricket World Cup 2019 final, namely Dharmasena, Erasmus, and Tucker. Aleem Dar, who was part of the 2019 final, will not feature in this World Cup after stepping down from the Elite Panel earlier in the year.

In addition to the umpires, the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees for the event consists of four former international players:

Jeff Crowe (New Zealand)
Andy Pycroft (Zimbabwe)
Richie Richardson (West Indies)
Javagal Srinath (India)
The officials for the tournament’s opening match between England and New Zealand on October 5th have also been announced:

On-field umpires: Kumar Dharmasena and Nitin Menon
TV umpire: Paul Wilson
Fourth umpire: Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid
Match referee: Andy Pycroft
Sean Easey, ICC Senior Manager – Umpires and Referees, expressed confidence in the abilities of this group to handle the demands of such a significant global event.

Wasim Khan, ICC General Manager – Cricket, emphasized that these officials would bring skill, experience, and world-class standards to the World Cup. He also applauded the presence of ICC Emerging Panel members in the tournament.

The ICC Cricket Operations department takes great pride in its rigorous selection process, and Khan expressed satisfaction that four members of the ICC Emerging Umpire Panel earned the opportunity to be part of this showcase event.
