Bongofari for AFCON concerts



 Fast-rising Afro-Reggae act, Bongofari, will be in Cote d’Ivoire from January 12 for concerts in connection with the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) football tournament being held   from January 13 to February 11, 2024 in Abidjan, Yamoussoukro, Bouake, San Pedro and Korhogo.

He is going at the invitation of Abidjan-based events company, Ivac Visions and Concepts, which is organising a series of activities dubbed ‘Shaking Africa To The World’ to coincide with the football fiesta.The invitation to Bongofari from Ivac Visions and Concepts’, signed by its Head of Events, Jonathan Otu-Amponsah, pointed out that their events aim at bringing Africa together through music and that the Ghanaian artiste would perform at four concerts during the period of the AFCON.

“As a featured part of the ‘Shaking Africa To The World,’ shows, you will be acknowledged in the events brochure and during the various sessions. I strongly encourage you to join us for this fabulous event. It promises to be a memorable time for all involved,” the Ivac Visions and Concepts’ letter stated.

Bongofari said he was glad to have been invited to perform during the AFCON which is widely regarded as the biggest sporting event on African soil. To him, being in Cote d’Ivoire would be a wonderful chance to entertain and sell himself to patrons from across Africa and beyond.“2023 was a fairly busy year for me. I appeared on many platforms and I’m grateful to Ivac Visions and Concepts for noticing my hard work and asking me over for their ‘Shaking Africa to the World’ shows,” Bongofari said.

The busy 2023 he referred to included two shows at Goethe Institut, performances at the Ghana Reggae Dancehall Awards (GRDA), Aspaatere Festival at James Town, Alogboshie Street Carnival and Reggae Bash at Laboma Beach, all in Accra.

He also on stage at the  Abankese Music Festival in Cape Coast and performed  at the launch of the Afro Reggae Music Arts Heritage & Culture Festival (IARMA-FEST) in Lome, Togo

“This year seems to have taken off well for me and I pray for more opportunities to spread music from Ghana as 2024 rolls on,” Bongofari said.
