Today marks the day, probably in the history of Ghana when someone has awakened and urged the Ghanaians to wake up as well and save Ghana from bad leaders. Yes! You heard it right, it’s no one other than Ghanaian well-known actress, Yvonne Nelson who is famous for her great efforts for the nation. 

Yvonne Nelson is one of the very few Ghanaian public figures especially celebrities who think beyond their own horizons. The best example of her amazing initiatives is the much-hyped Dumsor Must Stop campaign that she started in 2015 ahead of the unbearable power crises. She gathered a good number of supporters and hit the streets of Ghana back in 2015 and protested against the power crises. According to the reports by Joy News Live, her campaign actually brought a major change in the power crises. As the campaign convinced the John Mahama led the government to take serious action. She did the famous campaign a little before the election year and now she has started a great initiative of ‘Wake Up Charlie’ again which clearly gives the heads-up that the election is drawing near. 

For now, Yvonne Nelson took to her official Twitter handle and posted a series of tweets referring to how Ghanaians are sleeping and the bad leadership is doing its best to bring down Ghana each passing day. Her first tweet says, “Ghana’s youth, Charley!!!! Y’all gotta wake up! Y’all been sleeping for too long!!!! Our future charley!!! Start asking questions!!! Don’t let them shut you up!!! We’ve been quiet for too long!!! We need answers from our leaders!!!

The ‘Heels and Sneakers’ hitmaker further says, “How can we ever be OK with the way we live in this country? The living conditions, health facilities, Charley; but why are you guys soooo slow in this country! Wake up guys! Wake up! No country is gonna come save us!!! We need to save ourselves from bad leadership”

Not only this, Yvonne also convinced Ghanaians to wake up and stop letting the government befooling them anymore. Her tweet says;

“The countries that come in, only come to STEAL!!! Don’t be fooled!!! We need to wake up!!! We’ve slept for too long!”

She winded up the ‘Wake Up Charlie’ tweet series by saying that “The next time you vote, ask yourself some honest questions.”
