A five-storey building collapsed in a residential area of Nairobi, Kenya. Consequently, at least three people have confirmed dead while several others feared trapped inside.
According to an eyewitness, locals rushed to the scene to help before rescue workers arrived. They were also digging through the wreckage of the building with their bare hands. Meanwhile, they have rescued a man and a woman who later died in hospital.

Background
In June 2017, Former Governor Evans Kidero had made a statement at the scene of a building collapse in a residential area of Nairobi. The statement said that at least 30,000 to 40,000 buildings in Kenyan capital constructed without approval. It called these buildings at risk.
Kenya has been gone through similar tragedies in the past. Earlier in April 2016, almost 49 people died when a six-storey building in Huruma collapsed during a heavy nighttime rainstorm.
