2017 was that year in which bezels were thrown out and big screens were brought in – could 2018 become the year when everyone shows up a Foldable phone? Previously we have seen the ZTE Axon M, containing a dual display with a hinge, and it seems as if Huawei has something same as that in the works for a potential 2018 unveiling.

Richard Yu, CEO of the company stated that by now Huawei possesses a working sample that it’s working on to get it refined. Seemingly it follows the blueprint laid down by the Axon M, but the creator’s engineers are trying so as to reduce the gap between the phone’s two displays.

For the moment at least, it appears as though foldable phones will simply be two displays sewed together, but in the longer term, it could be seen that one seamless display is there that can bend in the middle. Yu states that Huawei could roll out its very first foldable phone the very next year, but the exact timeline hasn’t been disclosed yet.

Talking about the looks and form factor, smartphones haven’t changed very much over the past years; this is true that the phones of 2017 definitely look better than their predecessors. Foldable technology could simply be that hardware innovation that handset manufacturers have been searching for.

Gossips about a foldable Samsung phone named as the Galaxy X have been circling around here for many years, and it seems as if 2018 might finally be the year when this imagination becomes a reality. For the time being, LG and Apple have also been listed to present something quite same as that in the near future.

Definitely, it is a huge engineering challenge to get this sort of technology to work, and working well, but if the giant companies can crack it then it’s probably to lead to a huge lift in sales. Waiting for the time when Huawei makes anything official, in the meantime, you can consider the Huawei Mate 10.
