Simon Osei, Regional Minister of Ashanti has promised to kick out the Lawless Ecowas Immigrants in the Ashanti region as their activities are now becoming a security threat to the region.
He told that some of these Immigrants are not following the rules of the sub-regional bloc that permits free movement of persons and goods within member states for 90 days.
According to his observation the actions of some of these immigrants are frightening the local people like driving unlicensed vehicles and motorbikes with freedom in the region.
“Security in Kumasi is improving expressively, but we would soon embark on an initiative to weed out all of these Ecowas foreign immigrants whose residence permit has expired and are still staying in the region.
In an exclusive talk with Bright Kwesi Asempa on the Wednesday’s edition of Onua FM’s morning show “Yen Nsem Pa”. He revealed that these immigrants are using unlicensed vehicles and motorbikes across the region. They are not following the ECOWAS Protocol which permits them to stay in the country for 90-days.
Mr Osei point out that it has become very difficult for regional authorities to control the situation because they are not used to the licensing systems in other ECOWAS member countries.
