A bit about the WoW initiative: Introduced in November 2015 in collaboration with the SRU and the respective City Traffic Police and District Governments, the WoW initiative aims to empower Pakistani women through the provision of free motorcycle training. Launched in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Sargodha, the campaign has so far trained over 3,000 women. Currently, the campaign is working on a subsidized motorbikes initiative to be provided to the trainees through a balloting procedure.

SRU’s collaboration with Logos Film and Media aims to create awareness regarding women’s rightful access to the public space through self-reliant modes of transport. The film, ‘The Motorcycle Girl’ showcases the journey of a young Pakistani girl undertaking a solo journey from Lahore to the Khunjerab Pass. The collaboration also involved the free motorcycle training of the lead actress, Sohai Ali Abro thanks to the SRU!

The assistance SRU will provide Logos Film and Media will lead to better representation for women in the public sphere and promote women mobility in Punjab.
