"Jacob's Ladder" (2019): Worthy effort falls short of The Original
If you've seen the 1990 release of "Jacob's Ladder" then you, like me, are bound to find this 2019 remake pales in comparison.
It's not that "JL2" is a bad movie. It's actually pretty good. And Michael Ealy ("Barbershop") does a more than admirable job in the lead role here as a deeply emotionally scarred war vet. It's just that this iteration lacks the gritty immediacy and mind-bending disorientation of the Tim Robbins-centric original.
And after it's over, your head isn't gonna feel nearly as fucked.
What's she got to hide?
