Rajendra Park Chandigarh

Rajendra Park is a beautiful park situated at Sector 1 in Chandigarh. The Garden was named after the first president of India, Rajendra Prasad who had come to the city for its inauguration. The leisure valley starts from the Rajendra Garden.

Sprawling over 400 acres of land, the Rajendra Park is situated adjacent to the Secretariat building and the backdrop of Shivalik hills. This garden is one of the oldest gardens of the city beautiful. In 1954, the Rajendra Park was open to public. The landscape along with that of Capitol Complex of the garden was designed by the famous French architect Le Corbusier. The garden is filled with lofty trees which have round canopies, attractive mangrove plantations, flowering plants and evergreen foliage. The beautiful garden is mainly used for long walks, jogging, learning to drive, sporting events and horse riding. The official residence of the Chief Minister and other ministries are situated near the southern part of the garden.



The Rajendra Park is few kilometers away from the Capitol Complex, Sukhna Lake and Rose Garden. The beautiful lush green garden is perfect for Morning and evening walks. People from nearby places specially come here to visit this garden. The view around the Rajendra Garden area is superb. Due to the trees and backdrop of the Shivalik hills various birds often come here. There is also a small lake near the garden which adds to the beauty of the park. The Rajendra Garden is not separated by the adjoining park. Their are a large number of trees with round coverings.
