A much anticipated five day Cultural show ‘Thailand week 2017’ started from yesterday at the Himachal Bhawan. The show was inaugurated by the UT Industries Secretary and MD of CITCO Ms. Kavita Singh. On the inaugural, she lighted the lamp after which ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted. Ms. Tapasya Raghav, director of GM Industries, Chandigarh administration was the honorable chief guest of the show.
On the first day of the Thailand week it was able to attract thousands of city residents. The show is organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), government of Thailand. The five day event started yesterday that being 29 April and will end on 2nd April, 2017.
The cultural show will feature nearly 30 stalls from Thailand. The stalls will display products related to Wellness, Spa, Skin and Beauty. Other items like handicrafts, gems, jewellery, artificial flowers, optical goods, clothing, handbags, footwear, home décor, household products etc. will also be showcased at the fair.
The Councilor, Office of Commercial Affairs, Royal Thai Panuwat Jantharajit said, “Our aim is to boost people-to-people contact between Thailand and North India. With many Thai students studying at Panjab University, the city beautiful enjoys a special cultural relationship with the people of Thailand. He further added, Direct flights from Chandigarh to Thailand slated to start soon will also boost trade as well as people-to-people ties. The fair will also focus on the business gatherings which is on March 30 at Himachal Bhawan from 11am to 1pm.
