The full moon of Ashwin month is called Sharad Purnima. On this Purnima, it is especially important to wake up in the full night and keep the kheer in the moonlight. Sharad Purnima is also called Kojagari full moon or Ras Purnima. According to mythological beliefs, Mata Lakshmi was born on the same day. Therefore, it is considered to be the best time to get money. According to the Hindu calendar, Ashwin is called the full moon of the month. According to astrology, in the whole year, only this day moon is full of sixteen arts. It is believed that on this night, the nectar loses from the rays of the moon. This day has been known as Kojagarh fast. This is also called Kaumudi fast. On this day, Shrikrishna created Maharas. It is believed that this night, the nectar is struck by the rays of the moon. This is the law of making dessert (Kheer) in North India and keeping it in the moonlight overnight. Rishi-Munis have made it mandatory to keep Kheer in the open sky in the night of Sharad Purnima. In this year Sharad Purnima falls on 23rd October 2018.
