Convoy

Convoy was a truck driving protest song that came out in November of 1975.  It reached number 1 on the U.S. charts.  It inspired a movie.  It was by an artist named C.W. McCall.  The thing is, McCall didn't exist.  C.W. McCall was an invention of ad executive Bill Fries, who wrote the song with Chip Davis.  Davis would go on to form Mannheim Steamroller.  So, in the end, the phenomenon that was Convoy ended up being a great example of the effectiveness of advertising.
