Halloween 101: All the Basics You Need to Know

So, it’s that time of year once again, Halloween, so for some of you, its about dressing up, consumption of lots of sweets and playing pranks on individuals. Some people, they are unaware of the facts and what happens behind the scenes. Why we celebrate Halloween, why the orange, candy, spooky stories?
Here is a little inside to the reason behind Halloween.
Samhain: The origin of Halloween can be traced to this “ancient pagan festival celebrated by Celtic people over 2,000 years ago “The Celts believed that the dead could walk among the living at this time. During Samhain, the living could visit with the dead.” However, the Bible clearly teaches that the dead “are conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5) Thus, they cannot contact the living.
So why is it all parties and dressing up? Halloween costumes, candy, and trick or treat: According to the book Halloween the Celts wore ghoulish costumes so that wandering spirits would mistake them for one of their own and leave them alone. Spooky huh?! Others offered sweets to the spirits to mollify them.
Ghosts, vampires, werewolves, witches, and zombies: These have for a long time been associated with the evil spirit world. The Bible clearly states that we should oppose wicked spirit forces, not celebrate with them.—Ephesians 6:12.
So, there you have it! But that’s not all, each year new traditions and celebrations get plunged into the mix of the ghoulish festivities.
So, the question being what to go dressed as? What treats to display if creating the party, and what fun games to bring in. Here is everything you need to know to throw the best Halloween party to get everyone on their feet and shivering in their boots!
