After only a few months in the country, an adopted Boy receives the most heartwarming gesture on his birthday for the first time in his life, driving him to tears. Read on to see how Abraham really felt seeing a cake from his new Family.

Infants never earn the right to choose which family they are born into. Parents often have the upper hand because they are equipped to shape a life – shape a child into what they want, even if children come with their personality.

Thus, in a family affair, it is the parents who decide. They are the first to interact with their children and influence their origins. Unfortunately, not all parents have the opportunity to do this, even if they desperately want to.

Some parents are not there to give their children a good life, that is, the essentials – food, clothing and shelter; some parents are also barely available to provide emotional support to their wards.

This is due to many factors, including death, separation, or the inability of parents to support themselves. However, over the years humans have devised a way – adoption – to give every child the opportunity to experience parental love.

Even though parental love does not come from a parent or anyone who shares biological ties with the adoptee, many adoptive parents have proven that they can be called good parents to their non-biological children by showing a sincere love.

This is how the Walkers decided to treat their two adoptees from Sierra Leone who had never experienced a normal family life. Their last gesture towards the youngest adoptee, Abraham, caused a stir on the Internet!

HOW DID JOE WALKER MEET THE BOYS?

Joe Walker and his wife were doing very well with their four children in America before deciding to add more children to their relatively large family.

But how did it all turn out? First, the family patriarch decided to visit Sierra Leone with a friend who had established an orphanage in the country – it was a special occasion for his pal, as the orphanage was celebrating its tenth anniversary . He said:

“I wanted to go play with the kids. I wanted to see what [it] was all about. “

Indeed, Joe has invested time in his relationships with the local orphanage and children. He played football and read books with them. Eventually he met James, a teenager, and the two became close.

JOE CONNECTS HIS FAMILY TO JAMES

After he returned home, Joe maintained contact with the boy, and the Walker family funded him and even helped James connect seamlessly with them via Skype.

Unfortunately, James was kicked out of the orphanage six months after they met. However, this did not disrupt her relationship with the Walkers, as Joe had already bought her a phone.

When James returned to his village, he introduced his younger brother, Abraham, to his adult friend and family. The boys Facetiming the family constantly quickly became routine.

Deep in Joe’s mind, he knew the boys needed to be in a better environment. So he partnered with a few people. According to him:

“We knew that if they didn’t return to the orphanage they were going to be put back on the streets, so we put together a team.”

Fortunately, Joe managed to bring the brothers back to the orphanage. Then he scheduled a physical meeting with them, and as expected, they instantly connected, forming an even deeper bond.

JOE CONSIDERS A LIFE-CHANGING DECISION FOR HIMSELF AND THE BOYS

There was no denying the connection to the children, so when Joe got home, he explained to his wife, Jamie, adding that he felt compelled to help them a bit more.

Before the couple concluded, they had an honest conversation with their four children, explaining their plan to adopt the orphans. Without hesitation, the peloton said it was a great decision.

Breaking the news to the boys was another milestone for the Walker family. However, they advised the brothers to think carefully before agreeing. In the words of Joe:

“We asked them to think of all the positive things and then to think of the things that would be really difficult…they wanted to be part of the family and know what a family is.”

The adoption process has been slowed down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But once the coast was clear, Joe visited the boys and was told he could take them.

COMING TO AMERICA!

In October 2021, the duo became part of the Walker Clan. They settled in well and Abraham confessed that he was in awe of America as he got used to the food and the weather.

On the other hand, the adoptive parents were thrilled to see the boys living out a dream they didn’t think was possible. According to them:

“It’s absolutely magical and amazing because you think of the first time you’re taking a toddler, and they’re like amazed.”

THE AMAZING SURPRISE THAT THRILLED IN THE HEART

In May, Abraham aged a year and the family surprised the celebrant with a colorful birthday cake with candles and his name on it.

It was the only time he received a cake or celebrated a birthday. The teenager rushed to hug his father and mother upon seeing the cake. He was sobbing uncontrollably and hesitating to blow out the candles or make a wish.

Abraham was upset and did not know the ritual with candles on a cake. Her siblings recorded the moment and beamed with delight at her reaction.

Later, he blew out the candles and made a silent wish, and what followed was a heart full of prayers and gratitude for his family. Speaking from the experience, he said:

“I love them more than they can ever imagine in the world. They are the ones who showed me to the world and showed me what happiness is, and showed me what love is , and showed me what it means to have a family around you.”

Although his age has not been revealed, the Walkers explained that poor record keeping in the boys’ country of birth makes it difficult to determine their true ages. They believe the birth documents made the boys older than them.

Despite what the document says, the Walkers adopted the boys into a good home to live in, and celebrating milestones like first birthdays to make them happy doesn’t seem like a problem.
