Phish is set to return to Atlantic City to play three shows on the beach, August 14-16. Although the string of Summer dates might look like the making of a music festival, the run is being billed as three separate stand-alone gigs. No other tour dates are known.
This isn’t the first time Phish has played AC; the band performed a three-day run at Bader Field, June 15-17, 2012. The site was a city-owned airport before it was permanently closed in 2006.
Bader Field has since played host to other musical acts, including the Dave Matthews Band in 2011 and Metallica in 2012. The location is desirable due to its proximity to multiple major metro areas in the northeast, its accessibility via public transportation, and of course, its hotels and casinos on the beach.
Atlantic City is Phish’s favorite NJ destination, playing there most recently on Halloween 2013. Since Las Vegas has become the site for the band’s outlandish Halloween shows, it seems Phish was looking for other dates to play AC. Looks like the dog days of summer just got a breath of fresh air!
Of course nothing is a done deal until the band makes an official announcement, so make sure everything you book is refundable!
