Sunday Sketches

The weather is absurd. It’s so windy I rescheduled lunch plans and refuse to leave my house. Gusts up to 50mph. I feel like I’m back in New Mexico.

With my newly freed afternoon, I thought I’d scan in some sketches. I bought a very nice leather sketchbook on my first trip to Santa Fe with my college art group. The best part is that the sketchbook itself comes out of the leather cover so you can buy refills. It’s made out of banana leaf paper which holds up to watercolor surprisingly well.

Most of the pages are either from my 300 Figures in 30 Days or 300 Faces in 30 Days challenges. The boats are from my art group’s trip to Savannah the following year, one is of my Grandma sleeping in her chair while watching T.V., and the two guys standing around is from an old job I had.

The sketchbook spans 2009-2017 so far. I’m trying to finish all the sketchbooks I’ve started over the years. Not that I don’t have just as many brand news ones waiting for me. Anyway, I thought I might as well start sharing them. Whenever I move into a real house again, I’d love to have a floor to ceiling bookshelf filled with my sketchbooks. It really is a great way to look back over the years.
