I first met our next guest, Don Nguyen, back in late 2019 at Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles, CA at an event organized by one of our previous guests, Omar Mora.

Since then, he’s been really active not only honing his craft and working on a ton of projects, but also promoting other creator’s work – which I think deserves extra kudos. He has his own creator owned comic book called Pablo the Gorilla and he was part of very popular Black Lives Matter art campaign in 2020 that was spearheaded by The Punisher creator, Gerry Conway.

• How did it all start? Is there any significance to why he is named “Pablo?”
• You’ll be attending in-person conventions this year, what will be your elevator pitch to people that pass by your table?
• What were some of the influences behind the creation of Pablo the character and the story?
• How difficult was it to fully realize him as a character rather than just an idea? How about the story and the creation of the Pablo universe?
• Besides contrast and uniqueness, are there any reasons why Pablo is an albino gorilla?
• How were you able to get Eisner Award winner, Dustin Nguyen to create a variant cover?
• How long did issue #1 take to make?
• I was surprised to see a Filipino character. What was the motivation behind that?
• When will we see the next issue? Without giving away too much, what can we expect?
