Traffic Manager
Who We Are

The Campaign Workshop is a fun and quirky bunch of political and advocacy professionals. We help progressive nonprofits, campaigns, labor unions, and advocacy groups to develop new strategies, create digital ads, design direct mail, deliver training, and develop content.

We build award-winning, strategically driven campaigns for clients like AFSCME, UFCW, Giffords, Mighty Earth, American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, American Federation of Teachers, National Association of Secondary School Principals, LGBTQ Victory Institute, and California Federation of Teachers. For samples of our work, please visit our website. Also, we have done an extensive amount of writing on our blog and in our e-books.

We are a fully remote company offering a welcoming and relaxed (for as much as politics is relaxing), flexible work environment, and believe in the intentional leadership development for all of our staff.

We are committed to racial justice, and we’re working to build an actively anti-racist company. Internally, we’re working to create a company where everyone can show up fully as themselves, where we engage directly with our identities and biases, and where we work together to dismantle systems of oppression. Externally, we hope to show up for our clients in their work towards racial justice, to help build a stronger and more diverse pipeline of talent into political consulting, and to grow partnerships with vendors of diverse backgrounds.

What You’ll Do

The Traffic Manager is a full-time, temporary position from Sept 2023 - Nov 2024, though all positions with TCW are at-will employees, meaning employees may resign or be terminated at any time for any reason.  The Traffic Manager reports to a Production Manager and works with other members of staff on assigned projects. As a traffic manager, you will:

  • Set daily art priorities based on release dates and distribute status reports.
  • Assign jobs to artists by managing workloads and competing deadlines effectively.
  • Work with account and production staff to assess daily/weekly needs from the art team.
  • Coordinate with temporary and freelance resources to cover needs and determine availability for projects.
  • Communicate priorities and set time expectations between accounts, artists and production.
  • Communicate time risks and help solve time/resource issues.
  • Maintain the art traffic board using our project management system, FileMaker, while offering feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and fixing any art issues or problems that may arise by reviewing image resolution, art file formatting, etc.
  • Assist with production-related tasks, such as freelancer PO creation and seeds for mailing lists.
  • Assist with administration tasks, as needed.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time-to-time by managers.

Who You Are

This is not an entry-level role.  We expect that most successful candidates will have spent at least three years to five years working in creative, art or print production, nonprofits, advocacy, progressive politics, or similar client management roles with a creative team. We are looking for someone who is:

  • An adept organizer and problem-solver. You can juggle multiple complex projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You can predict roadblocks before you reach them, and plan ahead to make sure that we deliver results for our clients. Experience using FileMaker or a similar CRM platform, as well as InDesign and Photoshop, is a plus.
  • A clear and open communicator. You understand that competing deadlines can pose logistical challenges and you are willing to engage with all team members to determine priorities and ensure that everyone has the information they need to maintain internal and external workflows so deliverables remain on schedule.
  • Ready to own work on day one. We’ll give you a lot of responsibility, and you’ll be able to set goals, take ownership over key projects, and start moving the ball forward. You’ll effectively manage up and laterally in a small team, ask for help when you need it, and receive feedback productively.
  • A quick and eager learner. We are looking for folks who can learn how to do our work quickly. We’re a small team, and we all wear lots of hats, and you’ll help us fill gaps. You can pick up on new ideas, ask questions to fill in knowledge gaps, and find solutions to problems that you don’t already know the answer to.
  • Deeply committed to racial justice and all forms of equity. You understand how your identities impact the way you show up at work, and you’ll use your platform at The Campaign Workshop to help us build an inclusive and equitable workplace. As the traffic manager, you will work with individuals across teams, including third-party vendors and freelancers who are integral to our creative process. Your ability to coordinate resources equitably across teams is critical.

If you’re not sure that you have all of these skills, please throw your hat in the ring anyway! We’re most excited to work with people who learn quickly and want to help us advocate for progressive causes.

This role is open to candidates with a range of backgrounds and experience, and does not require a college degree. We’re primarily interested in folks who are eager to learn more about our work with some background in creative workflow  and are interested in launching careers in politics and advocacy.

What You’ll Gain

  • First-hand experience in project management. You’ll oversee the delegation of projects to artists and have a front seat to the development of campaign strategy by members of the art, account, and production teams.
  • You’ll make an impact. You’ll be at the frontlines of our work to champion progressive causes and you’ll gain firsthand experience in the creation, production, and management of programs.
  • We show up for each other. We’re a diverse team with a wide range of experiences –– some of us have been at TCW through 13 years and 4 promotions, and others are just starting out here as their first job out of college –– but we share a commitment to building a workplace where we can all thrive. We respect each others’ boundaries, recognize that we all have commitments beyond work, and trust each other to get work done.
  • You’ll love working here. We’re a small, collaborative team of people who really care about doing good work and who treat each other with compassion and respect. We offer great benefits and real opportunities for growth.

The salary range for this role is $55,000 - $65,000 annually, along with great and unique benefits, including:

  • Generous paid time off including 15 paid vacation days and unlimited sick days
  • Company time off including all federal holidays, one week at Thanksgiving and two weeks around the December holidays.
  • Blue Cross PPO platinum plan with the premium fully covered
  • 401K with a dollar-for-dollar match up to 4% after 6 months of employment
  • Cell phone and internet stipend
  • Employee bonus in election years
  • Wellness benefit
  • Student loan reimbursement
  • Paid day off to volunteer
  • Paid parental leave (up to 12 weeks)
  • Work from anywhere stipend
  • Professional development support
  • Full remote office set up

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and will be required to sign an I-9 form. Please apply here by July 31, 2023.

We’ve worked to build a work environment where people with all backgrounds and identities can thrive, and we want our hiring process to reflect that. If there are any accommodations that would help you in submitting your application, interviewing, or completing our hiring tasks, please email [email protected].
