For the decades Sheetla Mata is worshiped in India. It is believed that goddess sheetla saves from many diseases and bless devotees with health life. The shitla astmi is celebrated after 7 days of Holi festival i.e. on Ashtmi tithi as per Indian Panchang.
This celebration is also called BASAUDA because on this day goddess is worshipped with stale food and devotees also eat the stale and cold food on this auspicious day.

As per the belief Sheetla mata saves the devotees from many types of diseseas and epedemics and gives the healthy life so it is good to perform proper puja on ashtmi tithi of krishna paksh After holi.

How to perform Sheetla Mata Puja/Basauda?
Actually one day beofore food is made and kept at sacred place and on next day very early in the morning devotees go to sheetla mata temple and perform proper puja and offer the stale food to her, some devotees keep fast of full day and in the evening eat the stale food.
- No food is cooked on this day.
- It is also good to read the sheetla Ashtak Strotram on this day to please sheetla mata.
- After puja the prasad is distributed to family members, relatives, neighbours etc.
- Sheetla mata puja is celebrated for healthy life, it is done to maintain the healthy environment, It shows the importance of keeping our atmosphere clean and sacred. It also shows the importance of stale food in our life.
