I was still trying to find beautiful models to photograph but I wanted to do something different. my pictures were good but still missing that vogue look. I had tried to work with a few Makeup artists but either they wanted to get paid, get wardrobe and hair and kit fee... some who agreed to work will be show. so I was on the quest for that elusive Makeup Artist. I met melissa on model mayhem. she looked promising. but was comforting was that she was from california. I get it that west coast people are more open-minded that dc people. she agreed to the match-up. for some reason the model would be available only after 6pm. so we scheduled the shoot for 7pm.
she arrived late. held up in traffic. beautiful long haired blonde and tall. the makeup artist had already set up and was waiting. introductions. I had sent a picture of the model to the makeup artist, so she knew what to expect. looks like she also had a precise idea of the looks that she wanted. she had even gone out of her way to secure some outfits for the shoot. we wanted to do 3 looks so she had her plan on how to build the looks as we went. the model proved to be incredibly comfortable in front of the camera. she told us that she did modeling for stores while in russia. we had such a blast. everybody was having fun with that shoot. the makeup artist almost directed the shoot. to which I don't mind. so I can concentrate on what I do best: take great pictures.
