Naruto Shippuden anime schedule January 2016 and news

Naruto Shippuden anime January 2016 Episode release dates

As the New Year is here, just when canon was a given this month, I have not so much good news :/

the Narusasu faction at Studio Pierrot: ‘hey, a series focused entirely on Sasuke and Naruto would be totally marketable, think of the possibilities ^^’

But at least we know that the reason there is so much filler is to make corporate decision-makers win time to decide whether there would be a new Boruto Anime or not.

Why is this important? Because it would decide the future of Naruto anime.

Would they put old-school pre-time skip episodes after the official canon material is done? Pure filler till 2020?

Would it be incoherent to have Naruto and Boruto airing at the same time?

Meanwhile, fillers will go on and  canon will begin on March 2016 (seemingly the deadline for their decision).

‘So, which way do we go?’
‘Let’s decide on February 29 the future of this anime’

Thus the new season kickstarts with the continuation of Jiraiya’s Scroll tales:

Episode 444 “Rogue Ninja” (里抜け)                       January 14, 2016

Well, in this ‘dream’, Sasuke leaves the village anyway, and Naruto is all Sasukeeeeeeeeee again o.o

I swear this must be the filler they show to focus groups, then they pick what they liked the most, to see how viable would be a totally non-canon Naruto.

Episode 445 “The Pursuer” (追手)                         January 21, 2016
Episode 446 “The Collision” (衝突)                         January 28, 2016

Update February 4: Here’s the February 2016 schedule

Update March 12: in quite a trolling twist, Itachi Shinden will air in Naruto’s regular schedule, and once again we have two more months of filler.

New Boruto manga series to be released in Spring 2016

With Shonen Jump website having published a countdown clock on their website with the silhouettes of Boruto, Sarada and company, titled ‘the next generation’, it was a given.

However, Kishimoto will be only canon-approving the chapters as Mikio Ikemoto will be doing the drawings and Ukyo Kodachi will be writing the script.

The former was an assistant of Kishimoto-sensei, and the latter has written the Gaara Epilogue novel (Gaara Shinden) and collaborated on the Boruto movie screenplay.

Despite being published in Weekly Shonen Jump, it will be published on a monthly basis. They’re playing on the cautious side here.

But it was announced in Jump Festa that Kishimoto himself would do a Boruto one-shot story also slated for Spring 2016.

Jeezus, let the guy work on his sci-fi manga, for God’s sake!

A Boruto movie sequel in the works?

Despite the success of Boruto: Naruto the movie, the highest grossing movie of the franchise at 2 Billion Yen (more than $20 Million dollars), it seems that the sequel is slated for 2017 instead of this year, as priority has been given to Itachi’s Light Novels , titled ‘The True Legend of Itachi’ by Takashi Yano.

In this sense, the upcoming Boruto manga serves to test the waters, to foresee how viable would it be to greenlight an anime.

So who knows if we will be getting a full fledged anime instead of a movie, with ‘Shippuden’ style Boruto, Sarada and Mitsuki? What about an anime AND the sequel?

Whoa, make up your mind, Studio Pierrot!

Naruto: The True Legend of Itachi anime will premiere on March 2016

Being announced in Jump Festa and with great fan expectations for it already, it’s not certain yet whether it would be a 13-episode or 26-episode anime series.

The story will cover the novel in two parts: Glory and Dark Night.

The first part begins with Itachi aged four, entering the Ninja Academy, making friends with Shisui, wanting to become the first Uchiha Hokage. Already recognized as a genius among his peers and teachers, we follow him all the way until he becomes an ANBU.

Then, we are already familiar with the second part, how ancient hatred and politics ruined his life and dreams, taking him to that night where he had to murder his own family…except his own little brother Sasuke.

I’m betting more on 13 episodes, with 26 episodes it would be a full fledged story, but with some filler parts.

Coincidentally, it will premiere the same time Naruto Shippuden gets back to canon.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 Demo Released and other News

Despite speculation that Bandai Namco would release the demo in the first week of December, they made fans desperate and anxious by releasing it instead on December 17.

The demo features the legendary battle between Madara Uchiha and Senju Hashirama.

Kaguya is of course, confirmed. As well as the Story Mode which will recreate the final fight between Sasuke and Naruto.

The Change Leader system will allow you to work on your own teams, there’s the Adventure mode which lets you explore worlds, and of course the Match system for battles.

And Bandai Namco did a press event just before Jump Festa kicked off, with an interview with producer Miho Nakagawa done by Playstationlifestyle and Geekculture.

Indeed she agrees that the Change Leader system is the most interesting feature, as it allows you to handle three characters simultaneously:

Starting with the battle system, Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 introduces something called the Leadership feature, can you tell us a little about that and how it changes the dynamic?
Nakagawa: The major change is now players can control three characters simultaneously. Not only that, but now because there are three characters in the one team, you can switch between them at will. Though this also brings up new challenges, encouraging players to experiment with three different characters. Not only that, but because enemy groups comprise three characters as well, they can plan against you. So it’s going to give more strategic depth to the series

You can read the full interview here.

And here’s also the latest trailer from Jump Festa, promoting the Secret Forbidden Techniques and the final Sasuke-Sakura-Naruto combo, the Team 7 Arcane no Jutsu:

Other trailer features that infamous moment when Naruto uses the Harem Reverse Sexy no Jutsu on Kaguya.

Set to be released on February 4th through 9th in Japan, Europe and the US, it’s currently at a pre-order price of $59 for PS4 and Xbox One.

Naruto Shippuden manga, novel and DVD/BD releases 2016

As I mentioned in last month’s post discussion, the dubbed DVD situation keeps being complicated, with no date or info in sight for releases :/

In these cases, priority is always given to subbed DVDs and syndication deals with Cartoon Network, Disney Channel et al after the series is long over.

Naruto: the Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring

The first release of the year on January 5th and it has already oversold as a best seller.

Currently priced at $6.34, it centers on Sarada’s frustration on never having met her father, hilarious moments with Chou-Chou, how Orochimaru is doing, and Naruto’s moments as the Seventh Hokage.

Naruto Shippuden DVD 25 Set Uncut – Episodes 310-322

Set to be released on January 25th, it’s currently priced at $40. Includes the ‘Rogue to Ninja’ movie prologue, Shino’s battle, the backstory of the Jinchuriki, and more.

There’s no info yet on when Set 26 is going to be released.

Naruto Shinden Epilogue novels: Shikamaru’s Story (Shikamaru no Hiden)

Currently at a preorder price of $8.28 and to be released on February 2, 2016.

Two years after the war, Shikamaru gets a key role as Konoha’s strategic protector and adviser.

One day, a group of shinobi went missing, including Sai. Shikamaru investigates and it seems they were abducted by the Land of Silence, where will this lead?
