PREVIEW: Tri States Wrestling – Earth, Wind, & Fuego – March 15, 2024

An upcoming live professional Wrestling event by TSW

The professional wrestling scene in the greater Kansas City area is off to a very strong start in 2024, featuring solid shows from promotions like Kansas City Xtreme Wrestling and Trailblazer Championship Wrestling. The newly founded Fountain City Pro is also making waves, and now Tri States Wrestling is gearing up for a show that boasts one of their most intriguing cards to date. Titled Earth, Wind & Fuego, this event is named in recognition of its main guest star, the former AEW talent, Fuego Del Sol.

Known for offering a diverse mix of wrestling styles, Tri States Wrestling consistently provides a little bit of everything for fans of various tastes. Earth, Wind & Fuego promises to deliver an exciting blend of wrestling styles, ensuring there’s something for everyone in the audience. St. Joseph, MO, has proven to be a hotbed for wrestling, and I’m particularly thrilled to return to such a hot crowd. I don’t do many weekday shows (I work at night M-F), but I had to burn a PTO day and I couldn’t think of a better way to do it than attending a wrestling show.

As always, Tri States Wrestling offers family-friendly events, and wrestling fans of any age always come out with big smiles on their faces at the end of every show. For tickets, make sure to head on over to the TSW website HERE. Tickets start at just $5.00 or $10.00 for Front row. VIP Packages are also available for those that want to meet some of the company’s top stars.

Join me now as we look at what to expect at Tri States Wrestling‘s Earth, Wind & Fuego on Friday March 15th.

The Card:

As with any show, the card is subject to change:

True to the idea that Tri States Wrestling is a company showcasing talent in Missouri, Iowa, and Kansas, “Earth, Wind & Fuego” seems to be the scene of a low-key invasion by talent normally found in Central Kansas this time around. One such talent making the trip over is Mindy Grace, a regular competitor in The Kansas Wrestling Alliance and Heartland Championship Wrestling. She has been a significant presence in these promotions, often contending for the Sunflower Championship in the HCW women’s division. In Missouri, Mindy will be facing off against Stormi Renee, a familiar face for longtime TSW fans.

Stormi Renee is best known in TSW for her series of matches against Shooter Shylynn during the TSW Midwest Tour in 2023, and captured the hearts of fans across four different cities. She passionately demonstrated that female wrestlers are just as hard-hitting and compelling as their male counterparts. This matchup between Mindy Grace and Stormi Renee presents a wild card for me at least, as I am not as familiar with these ladies as I have been with other talent on the roster.

The infusion of Central Kansas talent continues at Earth, Wind & Fuego with the appearances of the tag team Violencia Y Paz (Bruiserdor Violencia & Angel De Paz), two luchadores determined to make a mark on the Missouri side of the state line. Known for their impressive performances in The Kansas Wrestling Alliance and Heartland Championship Wrestling, these two competitors, who I’ve been eager to see, are set to showcase their skills to a whole new slate of fans.

Violencia, living up to his name, is somewhat of a brawler, while Paz brings a high-flying element to the duo. This combination of styles often proves to be a successful formula for professional wrestling tag teams, so I can’t wait to see what they bring to the table. Their match will see them face off against the formidable two-time TSW Tag Team Champions, Storm Dior (Blaire Dior and Tobias Storm). Despite a minor setback last December involving some less-than-sportsmanlike tactics by a couple of knuckleheads, Storm Dior has dominated tag team wrestling in Northern Missouri and earned massive fan support wherever they go. The clash between Violencia Y Paz and Storm Dior promises to be an intense and highly entertaining match.

Next up we have a showdown between “The Monarch” Jeremy Wyatt and “The Realist” Calvin Aldridge that promises to be a hell of a match. Wyatt, a seasoned wrestler with an impressive championship history, including a past stint as the US Highway Champion in TSW, brings a wealth of experience and skill to the ring. On the flip side, Aldridge, recently holding the KCXW Metro Championship, is a top talent in his own right boasting an impressive resume.

This battle between two former champions is always a rare occurrence, and TSW provides the perfect stage for these two athletes to go head-to-head. Aldridge, with less experience than Wyatt, faces the challenge of overcoming a seasoned veteran. A victory against Wyatt would require a significant amount of determination and ring awareness, especially considering Wyatt’s tendency towards “controversial tactics.” The Monarch has been absent since the 2023 Midwest Tour where he lost his championship to Simon Gotch. It is very likely that he is seeking some sort of redemption and a potential future shot at Dr. Isin (or whomever wins the championship match at this show).

For the second championship match of the night, fans are in for a great match as “The Hypothetical Specialist” Dr. Isin defends the TSW Heavyweight Championship against Sam Stackhouse, a contender making his way from Oklahoma in pursuit of gold. This is Dr. isin’s first official defense of the new unified championship. Stackhouse, a familiar face from Game Changer Wrestling (GCW), is omebody that always impresses me, as I have a great respect for “big guys” that can move. Stackhouse’s look and style harken back to the likes of Bam Bam Bigelow and other classic big guys of the past. I studied some of his recent matches, and even found one where he crashed through a ring due to his substantial size and power, so anything he does in TSW is likely to be pretty crazy.

Stackhouse poses a formidable challenge, and when its all said and done, fans might witness a new face holding the TSW Heavyweight Championship. However, Dr. Isin has proven himself adept at handling opponents that dwarf him, evident in his clashes with wrestlers like Bert Candy and Kenny Kingsman, who are over twice his size at least. Dr. Isin’s cunning and determination, particularly highlighted in his path to the championship last December, make him a force to be reckoned with. Underestimating someone of his caliber would be a mistake, and if that’s something Stackhouse is about to do, he better stay home.

Finally, Fans in St. Joseph, MO, are in for a real treat as Tri States Wrestling will be hosting Alabama/Oklahoma-based Luchador Fuego Del Sol at this event. Fuego is, perhaps, best known for his tenure with All Elite Wrestling until 2023, where he was a prominent figure on their early slate of digital programming, including AEWDark, Dark Elevation, Being The Elite, and Sammy Guevara’s Blog. As the self-proclaimed “Master of the Tornado DDT,” Fuego Del Sol will bring an exciting contrast to the more ground-based tactics of former Tri States Wrestling Champion and former Tri States Wrestling Undisputed Heavyweight Champion Franco Varga. The clash of styles will likely make this a real treat for fans. Fuego has a huge online following and is beloved by fans, so having him pop up in Missouri is a big get!

Franco Varga has still got to be reeling after what happened in December. If you recall, at Rumble for the Rescue Dogs Night Two, Varga won a grueling Holiday Street Fight against The Iceman, only to have the rug pulled out from until his brief title reign by Dr. Isin. While Varga is generally pretty positive, and a really nice guy to speak to, I wouldn’t want to be facing him after all that transpired. This is definitely going to be a crazy match, and I can’t wait.
