Arcadia Pod’s Top Ten Kansas City Area Professional Wrestling Feuds of 2023 – #9

Once again, my intro from a few days ago:

“This year, I’m trying something different on my blog – I’m going through my local professional Wrestling coverage and doing a countdown of the ten (well 11 actually) Kansas City area professional wrestling feuds that I felt deserved some recognition. Since late last year, I have attended nearly THIRTY wrestling shows with my son, and have been blessed to have been there for some of the best professional wrestling I’ve seen in my entire life. As a passionate fan of professional wrestling, delving into the vastly underrated well of local talent and feuds has been a great experience.”

The Countdown so far:

  • HM – The Tonys Vs Storm Dior (TSW)
  • 10. Bert Candy VS Private Practice (NBW)

Make sure to drop me some comments on either social media or this very post about anything I may have missed, because….well, this sums it up better than I can explain here:

Please don’t be offended if I have seemingly ignored something from a show I have never been to. I sadly don’t get to attend KCXW much at all, for example, so I can’t speak on any shows from them, but that’s something I hope to change. The same goes for a lot of companies in Central Kansas that occasionally come over here (HCW comes to mind). As companies get more of a digital footprint, perhaps this will change as I can keep up with their product online at my leisure. I mostly follow three companies because I don’t really have time to go to every show that comes through; occasionally, I’ll dabble in something like World League Wrestling, but it’s very rare. With that in mind, hopefully everyone enjoys this, and maybe I can see other lists like this from other fans!

Number nine was one my favorite parts of the early half of 2023, and I’m still holding out that the subject of today’s article gets some gold in 2024!

9. Luke Langley’s Revenge Tour (CSW)

Luke Langley’s so-called “Revenge Tour” was one of the biggest career turnarounds in all of Kansas City professional wrestling. From day one, Luke Langley had all the potential of any would-be champion in Central States Wrestling, but seemed to always draw the short straw with his opponents (facing former champions, for example) or took things too lightly when it came time to get the job done. This resulted in a 2022 record that was absolutely abysmal, one of the biggest losing streaks in CSW History. Something in him snapped at 2022’s Deal With the Steel IV, and he’s been on an absolute warpath reclaiming his rightful spot in the company ever since. Being there for his meteoric rise in that company as well as his championship runs in other companies, Tri States Wrestling for example, has been really cool.

Aside from a single loss to Gil Rogers, Langley has dominated in matches against the likes of “The Haymaker” Jamison Holley, Dan the Dad, and Mike Outlaw, just to name a few. These were all the people that “chumped him out” before, so it was as if he had a hitlist he was moving down to right all his wrongs.

Artist Interpretation

The only person that has alluded him has been the former Central States Wrestling Champion “Magnum” Dak Draper. I for one can’t wait for that match-up if it ever happens. If it doesn’t, it honestly will be a real shame. I think that’s why I didn’t have this higher on the list, because Draper went on to feud with Wyatt for a while, and I feel like the story was never completed. If the match does ever happen, Draper better watch out because once Langley hits his Brain Buster, it’s usually all over. Perhaps we should also add Gil Rogers, the current and reigning Central States Wrestling Champion, to the list as well considering what happened there. Langley ought to be up for a rematch and 2024 could be the Langley’s year!
