Arcadia Pod’s Top Ten Kansas City Area Professional Wrestling Feuds of 2023 – #8

Once again, my intro from a few days ago:

“This year, I’m trying something different on my blog – I’m going through my local professional Wrestling coverage and doing a countdown of the ten (well 11 actually) Kansas City area professional wrestling feuds that I felt deserved some recognition. Since late last year, I have attended nearly THIRTY wrestling shows with my son, and have been blessed to have been there for some of the best professional wrestling I’ve seen in my entire life. As a passionate fan of professional wrestling, delving into the vastly underrated well of local talent and feuds has been a great experience.”

The Countdown so far:

  • HM – The Tonys Vs Storm Dior (TSW)
  • 10. Bert Candy VS Private Practice (NBW)
  • 9. Luke Langley’s Revenge Tour (CSW)

Make sure to drop me some comments on either social media or this very post about anything I may have missed, because….well this sums it up better than I can explain here:

Please don’t be offended if I have seemingly ignored something from a show I have never been to. I sadly don’t get to attend KCXW much at all, for example, so I can’t speak on any shows from them, but that’s something I hope to change. The same goes for a lot of companies in Central Kansas that occasionally come over here (HCW comes to mind). As companies get more of a digital footprint, perhaps this will change as I can keep up with their product online at my leisure. I mostly follow three companies because I don’t really have time to go to every show that comes through; occasionally, I’ll dabble in something like World League Wrestling, but it’s very rare. With that in mind, hopefully everyone enjoys this, and maybe I can see other lists like this from other fans!

Number eight is the first entry in this list where we are shifting over to Trailblazer Championship Wrestling, which was one of the biggest surprises for me in 2023.

8. Shooter Shylynn VS Aminah Belmont (Trailblazer)

There has been absolutely NO woman on the Trailblazer Championship Wrestling roster that has come close to the utter domination of an entire division that “The Phoenix Princess” Aminah Belmont has. Squaring off against the likes of “The Little Blue Dragon” Tootie Lynn and Shooter Shylynn, Belmont went undefeated in 2023, and will likely continue her upward trajectory next year. In fact, she without a single doubt had the best record of any woman in the company.

The secret ingredient to her success is undoubtedly her manager, SBC, who not only has possibly the best hair in the business, but also one of the best minds. SBC was trained in Calgary, Alberta, Canada by Lance Storm, and definitely carries that in his quest to help Aminah dominate the women’s division at Trailblazer. His ring awareness was actually impressive, and despite being awful in pretty much every way, one has to respect the lengths he went to to clench the win. I would never want to imply that Belmont wasn’t perfectly capable of doing well by herself, but one really has to wonder what a difference it would make.

Belmont is the master of getting under the skin of her opponents, which leads to them making mistakes for her to exploit. Throw SBC in the mix and You’d be hard pressed to find another competitor with as high of a chance of winning as her. If she can buckle down and avoid tantrums, Aminah Belmont has the potential to become really great in this business.

As mentioned before, 2023 saw Belmont really take exception to one person in particular, and that was the powerhouse Shooter Shylynn. Their first scuffle of the year was at Bunkhouse Brawl, where SBC was able to turn a potential loss into a big win by “exploiting the rules a tad.” This obviously angered The Shooter and she demanded a rematch almost immediately. That opportunity was not opened up until AFTER another match. In the faceoff between Shooter Shylynn and Tootie Lynn, Tootie kind of lost herself in arguing with the crowd and Shylynn took advantage for a narrow victory. Just when everyone was enjoying a feel good moment, out comes SBC

SBC was more than happy to oblige with the rematch request from Shylynn as long as that match happened on his terms, and by that I mean right then and there. SBC has contacts within Trailblazer management and always seems to have the upper hand when it comes to matchmaking opportunities. Nursing her wounds from Tootie’s thunderous strikes and kicks, Shylynn tried her best, but it was no match for the fresh Belmont wrestling at 100%. So far, that was the last time we saw Shylynn in Trailblazer for the year; personally, I’m hoping for her to heal up and be ready to take some revenge in 2024.

The last we saw of Aminah Belmont was at Emerald City Showdown when she got yet another win over “The Little Blue Dragon” Tootie Lynn, likely after Lynn took an exception to being an accessory to her feud with Shylynn. The combo of Aminah and SBC once again proved too much and Lynn was sent back home to St. Louis with her dragon tail between her legs. Will anyone be able to step up to “The Phoenix Princess” in 2024? Only time will tell.
