How To Get In The Zone & Stay In The Present

Sometimes we lose Focus, whether we start to flounder in life or just day to day in our jobs or at home, we let our minds drift away and stop concentrating on what we are doing at that moment. Day dreamers might suffer more, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with letting your imagine run away from you every now and again, but when it prevents you from being productive and getting stuff done you know it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. Here are a few ways to motivate yourself and get in the zone!

Take Advantage Of Your Peak Productivity Times

Everyone experiences highs and lows of productivity throughout the day, and depending on the type of person you are this could be 10am in the morning or 3am at night. Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, decide when you are at your most efficient and use that time to get the bulk of your work done and get your creative juices flowing.

Don’t Wait Until ‘Later’

Here’s a tip for you, later doesn’t always come. And even when it does it often passes us by and becomes the new ‘not right now’. There is no ideal time to do something, so the best time to do it is right now. Once you get into the swing of not putting things off and getting a lot accomplished, you will be spurred on to complete even more tasks.

Strike While The Iron’s Hot

Opportunities don’t come by very often, at least not the ones we really want, so adjust your mindset from thinking too far ahead and planning each and every detail, and start allowing your life to flow a bit more. Sometimes taking a wrong turn can lead us to an unexpected destination that is surprisingly pleasant, but first you must let go of too much structure and the safety of familiarity and choose to embrace the unknown, even if it seems scary at first.

It Helps To Have Passion

Finding focus and getting in the Zone is a lot easier when you are interested in what you are doing. Think about anything in life that you’ve ever enjoyed – a particular book, a movie, or a conversation with someone you find fascinating, the time will pass so quickly you won’t even notice it going by as you become completely wrapped up in what’s going on, savouring every moment. When you do things you love with people you enjoy you won’t ever struggle to find your mojo.

Find The Right Environment

People are stimulated in different environments depending on their preferences. Some people like total silence when trying to concentrate, other people prefer background noise or music playing to keep themselves alert and focused. You might find that getting out of the house and going to a cafe motivates you to get work done, or sometimes the kitchen table is just as good a place as any. Wherever you feel most inspired to your best work, work your schedule around it and make sure to get some quality work done in the Environment that suits you best.

Whenever your mind starts to wander, bring it back to the present moment and the task at hand and try to put all your energy into concentrating on that one specific thing, practicing this will increase your capacity to focus and be disciplined. However, if you’re having a day where nothing will make you feel energised and you don’t even feel motivated enough to lift a finger, take some down-time and tackle your workload again the next day. Everyone needs a break from time to time!
