Diary of a College Intern: Marketing

Currently, I have been interning at an Internet Marketing company, Alto Marketing, for a little over a month and loving every second. Being a fashion major other jobs and internship opportunities I have gotten involved with have been more hands on and physically creative. At Altos I manager social media for a hand full of what they refer to as “active clients”. These clients are in constant motion with there marketing campaigns. So what does managing social media mean? A large part of the word I do is virtually being the voice of these clients on the different social media platforms they are represented on.  In more basic term, I sit at a desk all day and search the internet for related content to build posts. Now the “sitting at a desk al day” part sounds fairly boring, but surprisingly I absolutely adore it. Having worked in retail since the rip old age of 13 (Yes I know, Not Very Legal. I got paid in merchandise don’t worry) I appreciate having a 9-5 job were spend my day doing something that comes very natural, surfing the web. Although most of the time when I am doing this I am shopping, watching YouTube videos, and reading fashion and beauty blogs. This time around I surf for content that related to the clients I Tweet and Facebook for, the two major companies being a Greenhouse and Concrete companies. Now that being said, you might be wondering how in the world does this related to my degree in Fashion Merchandising? Well directly it has nothing to do with it, but I am also a marketing minor, with a lot of my classes in those to programs over lapping this is actually is incredible experience for me to be getting, especially in my senior year of college. I do not get coffee or make copies, nothing a “typical” intern might do. I am actually working as a functioning member of the Altos team. Recently, one of the Altos team members told me I was extremely talked and that my posts are getting great responses. This was such amazing feedback to get, and although I am learning everyday, it is nice to know I am actually good at what I do.

Let me know below if you enjoyed this post and what to hear more about my internship experiences, Until next time kittens… Sass Ya Later.
